Abigail Pryde Album Art
There are many cool parts of my job.
My favourite, without question, is creating album artwork.
At home as a kid, there were always CDs and occasionally a stray vinyl lying around. The cases and sleeves as much a part of the experience as the music.
I still remember some of the more interesting covers, more than I remember most of the music.
It was a bit of a radio rock haven.
So, whenever I’m commissioned to work on album art it feels special, creating something that will continue to exist alongside the music. That hopefully will be picked up by a kid in the future who is utterly baffled at the concept of a CD or any kind of tangible object in the metaverse.
Getting to do this with some as wonderful as Abigail adds a whole other layer. We’ve worked together a few times at this point.
These photos are from our first session together. It was slightly chaotic, with windy, rainy rooftops vetoing my key concept. But we worked through, got a a whole host of options from the lighter end to the more abstract. There are a few below from the shoot to give a sense of the breadth that we shot.
Abigail ultimately settled on the top photo as album cover. A great choice for a debut, introducing the face behind the voice.
Give the album a listen, it’s really great!
Thank you Abigail, for bringing me along for the ride on this one, so great to work with you.
