Man of Moon Album Art

I first saw Man of Moon, probably about a decade ago, it feels like it anyway, when I felt a lot younger and they were probably still kids. They were playing in a basement venue in Glasgow and they were fucking mind blowing. How could a two piece, and so young, make such an incredible noise? I was hooked!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with them a bunch over the years, shooting single and EP artwork for their early releases The Road & Sign as well as making the music video for The Road alongside art director powerhouse turned my favourite author Alan Parks.

Getting the call from these guys is always nice as they’re just a joy to be around. And this shoot was going to involve and lot of that. We were spending more or less a full day by the Lothian coast, getting the early light, working with what we could in the brightness of day and working through until last light. The name of the record was Dark Sea, and the band didn’t want to be overtly visible on the cover. Otherwise…game on. Which if you read here often, you’ll know is a very fun way for me to work. We shot a tonne of stuff, some of which became single artwork, album cover and other artwork.

This records been out for a while now, but if you haven’t heard it, go have a listen. It’s dark and intense and really really special. I’m delighted to have been a part in it.
