Scottish Portrait Awards
I was power washing my mum’s driveway when I got the phone call.
I’d entered, and forgotten about, the Scottish Portrait Awards. As best as I can remember, the first competition I’ve entered. I submitted on a bit of a whim after seeing a notification on deadline day. I pulled together some images and sent them in.
There was definitely a sense that somebody was taking the piss when Sara called to tell me I’d been shortlisted and would be exhibited. But she reassured me she was real, and the above image of Paque has so far been hosted in exhibitions at The Scottish Art Club in Edinburgh, the Kircudbright Galleries, and will be arriving at the Glasgow Art Club on the 19th of January for a month long exhibition.
If you’re around and fancy spending some time in the company of some truly wonderful images, you should head along. I’m incredibly honoured and flattered to be surrounded by some incredible photographers. There’s no shortage of imposter syndrome.
Below are the rest of the images I submitted. The one of my best pal and daughter Joni was also ‘commended’ and hosted in an online presentation of images by the Scottish Portrait Awards.
